Collector's Edition quilt

 Once upon a time, I was browsing on Instagram, when what to my wondering eyes did I see? A beautiful quilt that would display all of my favorite Cotton and Steel and Ruby Star Society fabric that I've been hoarding, or collecting 😂

I ran to my closet and tore open the doors, now mushrooms, now apples, now strawberries too......just kidding!

Look at all these lovelies. Some of them are ten years old, others are very recent.

I cut them into the correct sizes, there were lots of pieces.  Some were big, others were pretty little.

The large prints and the ones I love the most, are what I used for the large pieces.

I found a purple Cotton and Steel with little pink dots at a quilt shop, that I thought would be perfect for the sashing.

I have a lot of projects going right now.  It seemed as though I had a lot of time and now I don't.  Sometimes when some of my assignments are a little overwhelming, I venture back to my sewing room and sew.  One of the things I really enjoy doing. ❤️

Neo's Birthday Dress

I loved making this dress so much (you can see it here), that I made it again for Neo's 7th birthday.

The fabric line is called "Menagerie" by Rifle Paper Co for Cotton and Steel.

I used some green vintage buttons :)

Three different colors of ribbon for the tie in the back.

Some pretty lace detail on the sleeve.

 I love the camouflaged tigers, leopards and exotic birds!

I made a lined bag to match.

 I love these bags so much, I created a board on Pinterest for them.

It's a little big, but she'll grow into it :)

I'm going to make two more of these cute dresses for two more little grand daughters, before the end of the year :)

Lucy's Birthday dress

My little grand daughter Lucy Jane turned four years old.
She loves clothes, lipstick and perfume more than toys, so I decided to make her a dress.
I found this darling fabric called Wonderland, it's by Cotton and Steel.
I ordered the fabric from two stores online, fat quarter shop and fabric.com.

Here's a closeup.
I just love all the pops of color!

 I was able to find the perfect gold buttons, they're very thin.

The ribbons are sewn into the side seams, such a cute feature!

 I had this extra fabric that I decided not to use on the dress.
I made a bag to match the dress instead :)
I've made this pattern so many times and love it in all the sizes!

Cotton + Steel Sew Together Bag

I made another sew together bag, I love making them!

Why, you ask?

I love choosing the fabric from my stash!!!

This is my 7th bag, and I still haven't made one for myself :)

It's all Cotton + Steel fabric, except for the red blocks, they are from Lori Holt's Vintage Happy line.

I tried some different quilting techniques for this bag.

It's such a great feeling of satisfaction to finish one of these bags.

Let me be honest, they are difficult to make!

Did you notice that there are kitten heads on the binding?

*Meow*

I'm not even a cat lover, but they are adorable!

I was saving these cute lining pieces for myself, but I used them for this bag instead.

I thought they were so perfect and so interesting!

I remembered to add the cute label.

See the kitty heads? Awwww.....

 I didn't notice until I was writing this post, but the "Sacramento Railroad" is written on that #2 pencil.

That's so close to where I live!

Bonus!!!
Not to mention the cutest little pandas which I used for all 3 of the pocket linings.

For my LDS family and friends, I always add a Salt Lake temple zipper pull.

For daughters, I sew in the "PS I love you" label :)

Sunshine and Surf, Love Patchwork & Quilting

I really love this magazine, have you ever read it?

There is always a free gift that comes with it, and the quilts are modern with a traditional twist.

I know that my daughter Lindsay likes modern, so I searched my Love Quilting and Patchwork magazines to find a quilt that she would like.

Sunshine and Surf was the one I was looking for!

Lot of rectangles with low volume fabrics.

I cut strip after strip of black, aqua and red, and countless low volume ones, and sewed them together.

I sewed and cut for days!

I love the variety of low volume fabrics, I've been collecting them!

Look at this, a sea of rectangles.

I thought that this looked like a simple quilt to make, but it was pretty time consuming!

A modern quilt needs modern quilting, so I quilted the whole thing in a circle, 1" apart, using my walking foot.

I think it's called spiral quilting :)

It's a large lap quilt!

I decided to bind it in green, to throw off the color scheme.

Lindsay has four young children, and Bridger and Kennedy, are in 5th and 3rd grade, are in chinese immersion at school.

I didn't know if this fabric was Japanese or Chinese, they told me it was Chinese.

There is mathematical fabric for Jeremy, who is an engineer.

Snap fabric and Maker fabric for Lindsay who creates.

I spotted this fabric at the quilt shop and had to get it!!!

It had the cutest selvage along the bottom, so I just cut it off and sewed it towards the bottom of the quilt.

I love Cotton and Steel!

The selvage even has 2 little Panda bears on it, which my granddaughter Charlotte loves :)

Jeremy and Lindsay on Christmas morning, they love their quilt!
