Guitar strap with tutorial link

My son Sean recently traded in his trumpet for an electric guitar.
He had everything except for a guitar strap, so I told him I'd make him one.
I looked through all of my "girlie" fabrics in pinks, reds, oranges, etc, and found a few rather "masculine" looking pieces.
Sean chose this one.
I found a tutorial link and pinned it to my "random tutorials" board on Pinterest, you can find it here.
The tutorial is by "one shabby chick", and you can look at her blog here.

This guitar strap is so quick and easy to make.
Notice the nice hardware?
There is a link on the tutorial, where you can buy a guitar strap for about $5.00 and use the hardware that comes with it.
I prepared the strap and used my walking foot to stitch it together.

Once all the lines were sewn on the strap, I wove the strap through the buckle and zigzagged the end to the strap.
This step secures the strap and finishes the end.

There were 2 other pieces of hardware that I attached, it was really just that easy!

Isn't this the most handsome guitar strap you've ever seen?
Ha ha!  I hope you might have a need for a guitar strap someday soon and that  this tutorial will be useful to you :)

Scrappy Cross Roads Block

Lori from Bee in my Bonnet had a tutorial for her Scrappy Cross Roads Block on Instagram, you can read about it on her blog here.
I decided to make it, and pulled 48 -  2 1/2" squares from my 2 l/2" scrap box.
I cut enough for two blocks :)

It also takes 8 - 4 l/2" squares from background fabric.
I chose Kona Pond for my background.

I made 8 easy corner triangles, and used up 16 of my 2 l/2" squares.

I sewed squares together, and laid them all out on my design board.
Can you see how easy it is?

Ta Da!  My beautiful Scrappy Cross Roads Block!

I organized my 2 l/2" squares into color categories....

.... and made another block!
I want to make 2 more to make a pretty square.
Each block measures 16" square.
I really enjoyed making my Scrappy Cross Roads Blocks :)

Easter Bags tutorial

I made 9 little Easter bags for 9 little grandchildren!

The little doggie one is for my 8 year old grandson.
It's sort of girly with the pleated band, I hope he likes it.
This will be the last year I will be able to give him a gift like this!

I made a few of them a little different, but the fabric was so cute and "Easter" looking, that I used the same fabric for the rest of the 8 bags.
7 are for girls and 1 is for my little 1 l/2 year old grandson.
He can carry his cars around in it, and won't be embarrassed at all!

It's so much fun choosing fabric for a project, especially when you have a good selection in your stash!
Isn't the puppy fabric lining cute?
I'm sure my 8 year old grandson won't want his friends to see his bag when they come over to play Legos!!!  Ha ha!

Here is the link to the tutorial on my Pinterest.
The bag was designed by Kim Walus for Moda Bake Shop.
It's really quick and easy to make, once you figure out the little trick about the lining.
The bag's about 6" tall, by 7" wide.

I'm going to fill the bags with goodies and send them off to 4 homes.
I won't be able to spend Easter with them, as well as most holidays and birthdays, but hopefully they know I love them and think of them always!
That includes Grandpa too :)

Lunch Bag Tutorial, from Ayumi

I have made this lunch box before, I really love it!
I had a girl's night with my daughters and we all made the bags, you can see the post here.
I think the bag is pretty and functional.
The pattern is Ayumi's tutorial from Pink Penguin, you can see it here.
I had the fabric  left over from our girl's night, one of my daughters didn't show up...

The bag is nice and stiff because I used medium weight interfacing.

The casing is so easy to make, notice the opening for the ties.

The bag can hold a lot, it's very roomy.
Your needlework, lunch, knitting, toys for a toddler, or a small diaper bag.
It could hold a couple of diapers, a travel case of wet wipes and a little toy or extra outfit.

I recommend that you try making this bag.
I give it an A+.
Think of the possibilities, they're endless!!!

A Giveaway and a Tutorial!

I have been wanting to make one of these "Lined Drawstring Bags" for a long time, I think they are so cute!
I have a board dedicated to them on Pinterest, here.
Jeni Baker, author of the blog, In Color Order designed the pattern, and you can find it on her blog.
The bag pattern can be made in many sizes, but the smallest size is written as a tutorial and can be found here.

I decided to try out my new sewing machine, and I made 4 Lined Drawstring Bags :)
This is the fabric I chose for the first bag, it's from a Mary Engelbreit line.

I love it, and it was fun and easy to make!

One of the things I love about this bag, is that it's completely lined.

I liked the bag so much, that I made another one in blue.

Oh, how sweet!

Now there are two :)

I looked through my stash and found this combination.
Riley Blake chevron, Anna Maria Horner and Sandy Gervais.
Instead of using fabric for the drawstrings, I used some twill tape.

There is too much light in this photo, sorry.
This bag pattern can be addicting...

Doesn't the green chevron pair well with the bright pink?

There's that pretty lining, it's almost a shame to hid it!

I had time to make one more, Little Apples by Aneela Hooey.

I have a thing for red and aqua together, and children themes.

Each side is different from the other.

I like the lining, it's from the "Red Riding Hood line".

I made 4 lined drawstring bags in two evenings.

I'm offering this bag in the giveaway!!!
I hope you love it as much as I do :)

Diaper Pouch Tutorial

I found the cutest Diaper Pouch tutorial, here is the link.

I made one and is it so easy, that I want to make a whole bunch of them for gifts!
You can grab this little pouch and throw it in your diaper bag, or just carry it all by itself and you will always have a few diapers and some wet wipes!
This is the view of the little pouch sideways, isn't it cute?
I made it for my daughter Lindsay, and she chose the fabric from her stash.
This is the bottom of the bag, it has a box pleat to fit more items.
The Diaper Pouch holds three diapers, a pack of wet wipes, and a tube of diaper rash ointment, car keys and a cell phone. It would be smart to add a little pocket in the lining, for your cell phone.

I'm excited to make some more, and when I do, I'll definitely show them to you :)
